Dr. Brian Panetta has over 30 years experience in petroleum and subsurface geology. He is a registered Professional Geologist (PG) in the states of Alabama and Pennsylvania. Dr. Panetta was most recently a Research Professor at West Virginia University where his primary research areas were carbon sequestration, geothermal and unconventional resources. He also focused on python application development for subsurface evaluation and visualization. Dr. Panetta has worked in the petroleum industry, academia, and as a geologic consultant. He has extensive experience in unconventional resources across North America. He was part of the team at Chesapeake Energy that delineated the Marcellus shale and drilled some of their first wells in the play. He discovered the "core" of the Point Pleasant / Utica shale play while Vice President of Geology at Eclipse Resources. There he assembled a team of industry leading operations geologists that were responsible for drilling world record setting longest onshore horizontal wells.
